February 29, 2024: A round table debate for students-participants of the annual school for the specialty “Biomedical Engineering” organized by Odesa National Polytechnic University (Odesa, Ukraine) was held. As part of the implementation of the international educational grant project Jean Monnet Actions under ERASMUS+ Programme ERASMUS-JMO-2021-HEI-TCH-RSCH EUNanoGreen – 101047940 “Responsible development of nanosafety as the contribution to the European Green Deal” the topic “Green Deal Materials. New Chemicals Strategy towards a toxic-free environment. Nanomaterials in REACH and CLP” was discussed.

 

The Roundtable debate was dedicated to the European Green Deal with an emphasis on the greening of EU policy and a set of measures aimed at turning Europe into a climate-neutral continent by 2050. Special attention was focused on the consequences of careless treatment of natural resources and damage from the uncontrolled use of chemical industry products, including nanomaterials. The lecture outlined the main directions of the EU’s chemical strategy, REACH, and CLP regulation regarding nanomaterials’ development, production, and disposal. In the context of the discussed issues, the strategy for Ukraine’s transition to a sustainable chemical industry was discussed. (download datailed information)
